How To Completely Uninstall MessengerDiscovery
We're sorry that you want to uninstall MessengerDiscovery. To be helpful to the end, below is a list what to do when you want to completely uninstall MessengerDiscovery:
Close Windows Live Messenger
- Close Windows Live Messenger (exit it from system tray menu).
Be sure other Windows Live Messenger accounts are closed too. - Check if the program is stopped completely by pressing ctrl + shift + esc and check for the process: msnmsgr.exe.
If it still exists, kill this process.
Removing MessengerDiscovery
- "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Add or Remove Programs".
- In the current list find MessengerDiscovery and press "Remove".
Removing MessengerDiscovery folder and registry entries
- Remove MessengerDiscovery folder in "
C:\Program Files\MessengerDiscovery 3\".
Does this folder not exist, you probably installed it somewhere else. - There are two ways to remove the registry keys: one manual (for expert users) and another automatic (easier and efficient).
Manual remove registry keys
- "Start" > "Run" > type "regedit"
- Find the following keys and delete them (if they still there):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ecko_complex
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MessengerDiscovery
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MessengerDiscovery Live
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Matt Holwood
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Matt Holwood
- Also check in your messenger folder, that you don't have the following files there left (you probably have to allow to see hidden files under "Tools" > "Folder Options" to see those files):
- winmm.dll
- version.dll
