Alerts

MessengerDiscovery has it's own styled alert system which provides many useful features. You can also right click the alert to open a menu which allows you to open an instant message window, or choose to not show alerts for the contact anymore.

The alerts contains different information about the contacts and his/hers events:

• the Windows Live Messenger address
• event (e.g. "Signed in" or "Conversation connection opened")
• the display picture.

In the settings window of MessengerDiscovery under "Alerts" you can select many options to customize alerts. You may disable Windows Live Messenger alerts and use MessengerDiscovery Alerts which provide much more functionality.

[edit] Show an alert when...

You can choose to show an alert when the following happens:

• A contact comes online.
• A contact goes offline.
• A contact deletes me.
• A contact is possibly appearing offline.^[1][2]
• A conversation connection^[3] is requested.
• A conversation connection^[3] is closed.
  • Show in the conversation window.^[4]
  • Show as an alert.
• A contact comes back from being 'away'.
• A contact comes back from being 'busy'.
• A contact comes back from being 'idle'.
• A contact changes their personal message.^[2]
• A contact changes what they are listening to.^[2]

1. ↑ This will alert you if a contact requests a conversation connection and has their status set to "Appear offline" or has blocked you.
2. ↑ ^{2.0 2.1 2.2} New feature added in MessengerDiscovery Live 1.4
3. ↑ ^{3.0 3.1} A conversation connection is requested if a contact:
   • Opens a conversation and type.
   • Opens your display picture preview and don't have your display picture in their cache.
4. ↑ This alert will be shown as text in the conversation window.

[edit] Buttons

MessengerDiscovery alerts have three buttons to provide useful features.

[edit] X Button

Closes the alert.

[edit] Hand button

Click this button and drag the alert where you want it, and next time an alert is displayed it will show where you placed it.

[edit] Pin button

Clicking this button will make all alerts for this contact always on top.

[edit] Settings

In the settings window from MessengerDiscovery you'll find options like when and where to show the alerts. There's also a filter to exclude contacts from showing an alert.
